Ether — Privacy Policy

Ether ("the app") is a personal tarot and astrology reading service operated by Attereon. This policy describes what data the app handles and how.

What we collect

Ether stores the information you provide so it can generate your readings:

• Account: sign-in is handled by Attereon Accounts (id.attereon.com), the shared account system for Attereon apps. Ether stores a link between your central account and your local profile; your password is managed by Attereon Accounts, not by Ether.
• Astrological profile: your birth date, birth time (and how certain it is), birth city, current city, and your house-system preference. City locations are stored as coordinates so your natal chart and transits can be calculated.
• Psychological profile (optional): if you choose to enter them — MBTI type, Big Five scores including BFAS aspect percentiles, Enneagram type (with wing and instinctual variant), and Human Design type and authority.
• Context: the life-focus areas you select, your preferred interpretation tone, and daily mood check-ins.
• Readings and journal: your card draws, spreads, annual and seasonal cards (with any goals you note), the AI-generated readings, and any intentions or journal notes you write.
• Settings: your preferences (deck style, draw count, and similar) and, if you add one, your Google AI API key (see below).

AI processing (Google Gemini)

Daily readings are generated by sending reading data to Google's Gemini API. To be plain about what leaves our servers: the request includes your natal chart placements and active transits, the cards you drew, your selected life-focus areas, your mood score, and your chosen tone. Your psychological profile is included only if you turn on "include personality in AI analysis" in Settings — it is off by default. Journal notes and written intentions are never sent to Gemini.

AI readings run on an API key you provide yourself in Settings; there is no shared server key. Your key is stored server-side and used only to make these requests on your behalf. Data sent to the Gemini API is processed by Google under Google's privacy policy and API terms. If you never add a key, no data is sent to Google.

Where your data lives

Your profile, readings, and journal are stored in a database on Attereon's own servers. All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Access to your data requires your Attereon Accounts credentials.

What we do not do

Ether does not sell your data, does not show ads, does not use third-party analytics or tracking, and does not collect your device location (the cities you enter are typed by you). Your data is not used for advertising or profiling of any kind. Ether is free — there is no billing and no payment data. Our public pages (the landing page, the tarot library, and these legal pages) collect anonymous, aggregate visit statistics using our own self-hosted system — no cookies, no third parties, and nothing that can identify you or follow you across days or sites. Inside the app, once you are signed in, we collect nothing about your visit.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can delete individual items such as seasonal cards and custom spreads in the app. There is currently no self-service control for deleting your whole Ether profile: to have your Ether data — profile, readings, journal, and stored API key — permanently removed, email us at the address below and we will delete it promptly. Note that your Attereon Account itself is shared with other Attereon apps; deleting your Ether data does not close the central account.
